Meet the Team

My name is Laura DeVito, and helping children and families thrive has been my life's work and greatest passion. I hold a Master's degree in Education and am a certified Special Education Teacher in both Florida and New York. For over 30 years, I have dedicated my career to supporting children with diverse abilities and the families who love them.

Alongside my husband, I have spent the past 15 years building and growing ST Experts, where our mission is to create life-changing partnerships between specially trained autism service dogs and the individuals they serve. As an Infant-Toddler Developmental Specialist, I bring not only professional expertise but also deep empathy, understanding, and hands-on experience to every family I meet.

At SDT Experts, we don't just train dogs — we build bridges. We help families understand how to use their service dog as a true developmental partner, integrating the dog's support into every aspect of life and learning. Each dog is individually trained to meet the unique needs of the person they serve - because no two individuals on the spectrum are the same.

We guide families through family support training, where we teach how to incorporate the service dog into daily routines and therapies such as speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, life skills, social-emotional growth, and more. Whether it's helping a child sleep peacefully through the night, stay calm during homework, or practice independence in feeding, hygiene, and dressing — the service dog becomes a constant, loving helper.

Our methods are rooted in innovative ABA techniques and therapeutic pet interaction strategies, blending evidence-based practices with compassion and creativity. We even teach families how to use their service dog to reduce screen time-replacing hours on electronics with joyful, meaningful engagement that builds real-world skills and emotional connection.

What makes our approach unique is that we don't ask children to change who they are to fit the world

- instead, we adapt our methods and mindset to meet them exactly where they are. Every child deserves to learn, grow, and feel accepted in a peaceful, non-judgmental environment. Our service dogs help make that possible.

For every parent who has ever felt unheard, overwhelmed, or alone - please know that we see you. We understand your hopes, your worries, and your dreams for your child. Together, we can create not just a program, but a partnership filled with understanding, growth, and unconditional love - one paw at a time.
